All my life, no one could say it, pronounce it, and my last name, forget it. I was called Joan, Joanne, Johnny, Jodi, I mean come on, how much easier can you get and I hate being called Joan or Joanne, both as these are not my name. My name, on my birth certificate is Joni and I too was named after Joni Mitchell. I was born in 1963. I did recently run into an Amish family that has a boy named Joni but they pronounce it Jo Ni instead of Joneeeee it is joniiiii. So that is Amish too. Anyway good to meet you all as I have never in my life met another with the exact same spelling. Many Joans and Joanne's that go by Joannie but never an actual Joni on their birth certificate. Good to meet you all. Also why can't we find key chains, stationary, anything with our names on there and spelled correctly? The only time I get my name on something is a "special order". I have never had the pleasure of meeting an other Joni, At 24 I can imagine to bump into one now would be a bizzare moment! Hoping it will happen one day though. I hated my name when i was in my early teens, mainly because of the guys at school, 'Yoni' (female repoductive part) was a classic to be called, but the one everyone loved most was 'rubber joni' ... sounds like johnny, as in condom!!!! has any other Joni experienced this? any way, As ive grown older ive learnt to adore my name, its unique, ive been told its beautiful to say.
